Creswell Cross Country award

Delaney was named the winner of the "Dog Bone" award by her Creswell Cross Country Coach Coach Larry Powell this week during a lunch time ceremony at Creswell Middle School. The award was given for a combination of achievements during the 2012 season including dedication to the program, achieving goals during the season and performance at the meets. She received a gift certificate for movie tickets. Way to go Delaney!

Delaney and friends crashed the party at Creslane Elementary School today as the Oregon Duck, cheerleaders and the Creswell High School Marching band join in the celebration of end of the school's first annual “Civil War Canned Food Drive.” The event was part of a Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions program at the school that this month aims to help families in need over the holidays by donating canned food items to the Creswell Food Pantry.

Top 25 at state meet!

Delaney kicked her way past a handful of competitors in the final 300 meters at the Oregon State Cross Country Championships to place 16st in a time of 11:56.75 on a muddy and cold 3K course in Portland. The run was a PR by more than 30 second and shattered her previous time for the same course from last year by over a minute. Chris

Delaney lost her shoe running through the mud pit at the Sweethome Invitational Xcountry meet at Camp Tadmor today. Like a trooper, she kept running. Seconds later friend Jenny, the Oakhill coach, found it and pulled it out of the mud and threw it to me. I in turn threw it to Creswell Coach Larry Powell on the other side of the pit, who after a short sprint up the course handed it to his daughter Olivia (2011 state xcountry champ), who proceeded to run Delaney down on the course for the hand off. The 400m relay Oregon style! Despite it all Delaney finished the race in 7th place overall!

Further encounter

On the way through Pleasant Hill near our home in Oregon we ran into Further the bus. This is actually Further 2, the original made famous by Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters back in the 60-70s. Ken's son Zain Kesey was taking the bus up to Portland and stopped by the grocery store in PHill for supplies. Fun encounter for all. Chris

Creswell does itself proud again this year with a bigger and better Independence Day party. I used music by the Creswell Marching Band, with Delaney on sax and Tiernan in the flag line, as the center piece of a video montage of the festivities. Chris

Jetboat Trip to Hellgate 2012

I joined Delaney and over 100 students, parents and teachers from the Creswell Middle School on the annual jetboat trip to Grants Pass, Oregon for a ride on the Rogue River, and of course I took my camera. Chris

Creswell Marching Band @ Florence

Delaney and Tiernan joined the Creswell Marching Band as they performed in the 105th Rhododendron Festival Parade in Florence today. I was supposed to be shooting picture for The Register-Guard, but couldn't resist shooting an iPhone video for fun when the band hit The Old Town District. You will be happy to learn I only got hit by a flag twice!

Brush with Fame!

The girls got a chance to have their photo taken with Olympic Track star Ashton Eaton, who just got back home to Eugene after his world record heptathlon performance at the World Indoor Championships.

Delaney earns 4.0 GPA!

Covering the 2012 Rose Bowl
